    Meteorological satellite Fengyun-4B is successfully launched

    On 00:17 a.m. 3 June (BJT), 2021, the Fengyun-4B meteorological satellite was lifted off by a long March 3B rocket from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan province.

  • NMC predicts heavy rainfall in Sichuan, Shaanxi, Jiangsu, Anhui, and Inner Mongolia from June 16 to 17

    From the night of June 15, central-eastern China, Sichuan, and Shaanxi will usher in large scale rainy weather. Cumulative rainfall in Sichuan, Shaanxi, Jiangsu, Anhui, Inner Mongolia, and Heilongjiang will surpass 100 mm. these regions should guard against ensuing secondary disasters.

    WMO Executive Council meets

    The World Meteorological Organization’s Executive Council meets in virtual session from 14 to 25 June, with a focus on strengthening and scaling up weather, climate, water and environmental-related services to meet ever growing needs. It will also discuss a major update to WMO’s data policy, closing the gap in the global observing system and a plan of action for hydrology.

  • CMA Administrator held a video meeting with the Secretary-General of WMO

    On April 28, Mr. Zhuang Guotai, Administrator of China Meteorological Administration (CMA) held a video meeting with Prof. Petteri Taalas, Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

  • Annual consultative meeting held to promote Fengyun satellite program

    On March 25, the seventh international consultative meeting for Fengyun satellite development was held online. Senior experts at home and abroad contributed their suggestions for long-term and sustainable development prospects of FY satellites to improve service capacities and meet user needs. Yu Xinwen, Deputy Administrator of China Meteorological Administration (CMA) attended the meeting.

  • WMC Beijing held annual conference to propel high-quality development

    World Meteorological Centre Beijing (WMC Beijing) held the annual working conference on 9 March in Beijing. The conference reviewed the works in 2020, discussed the development priorities for next step and identified the key tasks in 2021. Mr. Yu Yong, Deputy Administrator of China Meteorological Administration (CMA) attended the conference.

  • The 53rd session of Typhoon Committee was held online

    From 23 to 25 February, the 53rd annual Session of the Typhoon Committee was held online. The Session was convened by the Typhoon Committee, under the auspices of the Uniated Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). The officials and experts in the fields of meteorology, hydrology and disaster preparedness and reduction participated in the session to discuss the development of new plans to improve regional level of typhoon disasters preparedness and reduction. Mr. Yu Yong, Deputy Administrator of China Meteorological Administration (CMA) led the Chinese delegation to attend the meeting in Beijing.
