2021年8月20日（金）パーソナルコーチングの仕事をする傍ら、自らの視覚障害経験を盲導犬福祉教室、講演会等で伝える活動を行っている小暮愛子氏をゲストにお迎えしました。参加者は医療情報、看護、薬、球探足球比分の学生と、社会福祉学科教員、ボランティア?市民活動支援センタースタッフ、本学卒業の社会福祉士と総勢16名でOnline と対面のハイブリッドで行いました。20代で心理学を学ぶためアメリカ Santa Monica College に留学したものの、失明により志半ばで帰国という経験をお持ちの彼女は、健常者と視覚障害者、両方の気持ちで物事を考えるそうです。第一部ではバリアフリーなど海外と日本で異なること、自身で感じることを体験談を基にお話しいただき、第二部では盲導犬の仕事や普及状況のお話と、付き添った盲導犬コニーとのコミュニケーションの様子を実際に見せていただきました。具体的な例を掲げてのお話はどれも心に響くものでしたが、バリアフリーという点で、日本では機器や施設など対物的には進んでいるものの、周囲の人々の心や接し方の面で遅れているように感じるというお話は印象的でした。また、日本で909頭居る盲導犬の内、群馬県にはわずか8頭で、移動手段が車中心であることがその理由の一つだそうです。歩行の際、白杖より優れている点として、白杖は自分の手をさらに伸ばして触るようなイメージで、頭をぶつけることもあるが、盲導犬は犬の目を使って教えてくれるので安心できるそうです。とはいえ、ユーザーは盲導犬の食事から排泄、入浴、検診等、全ての世話をできなくてはいけないので、時間、労力、経済的な負担もあるとの事。それでもそれ以上に大きな愛情と安心感をコニーから得て、精神的に救われているというお話からは、盲導犬コニーがかけがえのない大切な家族の一員であるのだと納得できました。明るく何事にも挑戦することに努力を惜しまない彼女の体験談を聞き、参加学生からは多くの気づきと学び、そして元気をもらったとの声があがりました。国際交流事業として、大変充実した時間を皆で共有できたことに感謝申し上げます。このような交流を今後も継続していきたいと思います。

On Friday, August 20, 2021, we welcomed as our guest Ms. Aiko Kogure, who works as a personal coach and conveys her own experience of visual impairment through guide dog welfare classes and lectures. There were 16 participants in total. Among them were students from the departments of Medical Informatics, Nursing, Pharmacy and Applied Biological Sciences , as well as teachers from the Department of Social Welfare, staff from the Volunteer action Support Center, and a graduate who now works as a social worker, participated in the event interacting both online and face-to-face. In her twenties, she studied psychology at Santa Monica College in the US, but returned to Japan halfway through her studies due to her eye illness. She says that she has the dual perspective of both normal and visually impaired people. In the first part of the session, she talked about the differences between Japan and other countries, such as barrier free, and shared her own experience. In the second part, she talked about the work of guide dogs and their recognition, and showed us how she communicates with her guide dog, Connie. In addition, of the 909 guide dogs in Japan, there are only eight in Gunma Prefecture, and one of the reasons is people in Gunma mainly use cars for transportation. When walking, as for the point that is superior to a white cane, a white cane is an image as if we stretch our hands further and touch it, and we may hit our heads, but a guide dog teaches us using a dog’s eyes, so we can walk with peace of mind. Nevertheless, the user has to be able to take care of all the guide dog’s needs, from eating to defecation, bathing, check-ups, etc., so there is also a burden of time, effort and money. Even so, she says that Connie is an invaluable member of the family and gives her a great deal of love and reassurance, which helps her mentally and emotionally. Listening to her story, the participating students said that they had gained a lot of insights, learned a lot and felt energized. She is a cheerful person who is always willing to take on new challenges. We are grateful for the enriching time we were able to share together. We hope to continue this kind of exchange between students and guests in the future.
